From Pat Scott:
Here are two pictures of a Porter insulator painted with two colors and having a bolt stuck through the middle. This was created as a joke after a Hemingray 42 with an embedded nail sold for over 600 dollars. The response to this one was great; however, I only made 9 dollars and some change. It just doesn't seem right, does it?
It was listed on eBay as auction 1176883210, on August 9, 2001.
The original description:
Wow! Holy Moly! This insulator will bring more spark to your collection than throwing a roll of solder over a 60 kV power line! If this isn't your chance to own that insulator with junk in it, I don't know what is. Try finding this one in the price guide! Yes, these are hot items these days. One just sold with a nail encased in the glass within the last two weeks for over 500 dollars! If you missed that one, here's a second chance! This insulator is a two tone, and has a large threaded bolt. Take a look at the crispness of the color separation! Almost takes your breath away, doesn't it? And the one with the nail last week? Well, so someone got a puny little piece-of-junk nail. Hardly worth even calling a nail. With this, you get a whopper of a bolt. And that nail insulator was also only one color. This one is two! You want good-sized junk? Here it is. And the nail? Heck, it didn't even come with threads. This sure does. I challenge you to find a bigger impurity in an insulator! Guaranteed to be one of the most talked-about insulators to hit the collectors' scene in years, possibly ever! Impress your friends, wow your peers, and make other collectors jealous with envy.
