The McDougalds' 2003 Glass Insulators Price Guide says some insulators of this style, which has not had a CD number assigned yet, are unembossed, but others are embossed 'Pyrex'. Size is 2.125 inch length, 1.625 base diameter. It is similar to the shape of the CD 1130 and 1131, but the base is flat rather than rounded.

The NIA's Glass Strain Insulators page says "Although all relatively uncommon, there are a variety of glass strain insulators available. These were typically used to insulate a telephone or power pole guy wire from ground."

Pyrex's Plain Facts About Insulators brochure, available at the Peninsulators site, says "Because of pressing limitations, some shapes -- guy strain insulators, for example -- are difficult to make at all."
