Does anyone out there have a CREB like this?

Lee, how many of these now exist in this color/shop number combination? Hopefully one day I can compare my YOG20 [(Yellow Olive Green with Shop Number 20)] to yours (and anyone else that has one). I am willing to bet they came off of the same line in Nova Scotia... probably from the same batch of glass.

Thoughts?

Hi all,

So far, Chris, I have had Elton send me a pic of a group of amazing looking number 20's (3 of them). They were varying shades of green (left to right getting darker). I am not sure that mine would pass light as easily as his darkest one though, although it looks like they may be akin to one another. You two Texans should get together and see if they are (then let us know!).

Hey guys,

Nova Scotia is my home. I have some CREB's, but none as striking as that yellow olive green. Lee, you must have lucked onto that one before I was willing to admit that I had a few insulators packed in a box in the garage, for being thought insane. Now that other collectors have admitted
publicly, I feel much better...smiles.

There is some glass in homes and barns around the province, but most difficult to make a connection. As you know, most of the yellow and amber Dominon 42's come from this part of the country as well. I can't prove it, but it is my gut feeling that when the Maritimes were putting up poles, their requirements were not sufficient to merit a special run, thus we got the tail ends of many other runs, and therefore, quite a variety of odds and ends. What think you?

Howdy Fellow CREBheads,

I got mine from a collectors who said he pulled it from a line (in March 1999 I believe) up there in Norm's Province. He said he saw it, stopped, retrieved it, and left as he did not have time to stay in the area. He sold it to me just 1 month after picking it.

Actually, it is news to me that the amber Dominion 42's are from there - but I definitely have one of these gems in my collection. I love the color with the shape. I used to have the darker ones too, but I sold those a few years ago (what was I thinking?!).

Norm, what other CREB 145's have been found in that area that you know of (I am interested in knowing the numbers on them)?

Howdy Fellow CREBheads!

There has been some email back and forth concerning some dark yellow olive green SN20 CREB145's of recent (and in the past before this list was provided by Bill). Here is a pic of some that Elton Gish sent me.

http://www.insulators.info/pictures/?id=102016555

The link to the pic I posted a while ago is included as is a link to Chris Sistrunk's piece. Chris and Elton, hopefully (since they do not live too far from each other) will be able to get their pieces together to make a side by side comparison. Since I live up here in PA, it will be awhile before we can get ours side by side! I am pretty sure I cannot make the Mid OH show this year either. I hope to be at the CA Nat. next year.

It is hard to tell if these pieces all are the same or not. The pic of mine is taken in my display case which does NOT have the 'true color" bulbs in it (I also do not trust these anyway... long story in a nutshell, it has been proven to me these will rob some colored pieces of their yellow tones - olive amber Brookfields lose their amber, pea soup green CD145 HPET becomes mint green in color).

BTW - one of the reasons Bill gave us the CREBheads folder on ICON was to encourage us to post pics about any questions that might come up. It is an excellent way to expose others to this area of the hobby. If you are going to send a picture to another/all CREBheads, please consider posting the pic in the ICON CREBheads folder.

Happy collecting!

Lee

Hey!

Elton came over yesterday and brought his yellow olive green SN20 to compare with mine.
http://www.insulators.info/pictures/?id=102197169

They are very very very similar. The molds are identical.... they both have milk swirls.... they both have ghost 20s (mine has the ghost above the number, his has the ghost to the bottom and the left). They are soooo close in color too.... Elton's is a tiny bit darker.

My theory is that ours (as well as Lee's) YOG SN20s are "sisters" and came from the same batch of glass and used on the same line. Lee, does yours have any milk? Do I need to make a mask and send it to you?

Thoughts?

Howdy all,

I keep hearing Texans are capable of anything. Why don't you guys move your state a little closer to PA? There are a lot of collectors there I would like to spend more time with! ;^))

Anyway - you guessed it - mine also has milk swirls. I think a mask of the embossing might be a good idea. BTW - mine also is an [090]! Looking at the pics Elton took, the one showing the 45 CLIFF sides makes it look like Chris's '5' lines up with the 'B' in Brookfield. Mine does not - it is directly under the 'R'. Although the significance of different moulds may not be that obvious, it is known that 2 moulds were used per press. These three SN20's would be a good example of this system being used at the Brookfield plant (where we have no written records as to floor operations). I already have solid evidence that Brookfield dipped from the same glass tank to make two different numbered moulds.

Hey!

It looks like there is yet another Yellow-Olive-Green CREB with a shop number 20 that is from Nova Scotia. Wesley Lirette jus posted a pic of his here:

http://www.insulators.info/pictures/?id=104518756

Great find Wesley! This is a gem! The "book" value on Yellow-Olive-Green CD 145 Brookfields is $400-500 right?

Lee...who all has one? Lee Brewer, Elton Gish, myself, and Wesley? This is too cool! We need to find out where these insulators were used.

Hi all,

This does appear to be another one of the same. I know for a fact mine was from NS. You have to wonder about all the others. I really enjoyed the recent pics - nice pieces, guys!

Oh yeah, Brent - since you appear to be tired of those crummy looking little things - I'll be glad to take them off your hands. I'll pay postage :^)

Hey Chris S,

I'd really like to get together some time to color compare your YOG 20 with my deep, YG 18. I picked this one off ebay and it is the darkest yellow green I've ever seen. In fact, in the right light it looks YOG. The only piece that blows it away (color-wise) is my YOG FAB error CREB 145.

If we can't get together before the holidays, maybe sometime soon after the first of the year?

The other Texas Chris (Renaudo)
